Okay. The picture you tweeted is called a bowl. It has(should have)a hole near the larger end of the pipe. That is called a carb. When you're taking a hit you place your index finger of the carb and light your herb. and once you feel like you had a big enough hit, you take your finger off the carb and this pushes all the excess smoke out into your lungs. I don't typically grind weed when using it in a bowl, I break the nugs up into other tiny nugs(not too small) If you grind it up too much some bud can fall through the small hole, so just use your fingers and break a nug into like 2 pieces.

this except only BEEKEEPERs call pipes "bowls". the bowl is the part you put the weed into, the whole thing is called a pipe... because it's a pipe. get it? if you're buying a pipe that small you really don't need a grinder. just break it up like the other guy said. while you're at it ask the guys at the head shop for some screens. put one in the bowl first then put your weed on top. that will help make sure you don't inhale weed or ash

IMO grinded weed burns up faster and unevenly unless vaped or smoked out of a bubbler.

You will need ID to go to a smokeshop to buy a pipe. State issued ID and be over 18, go in and find a good piece. Never buy something plastic to smoke out of, it should be glass or nothing. You will learn to gauge the durability of the glass as you acquire(and inevitably lose) more types and styles of pipes.
